The Providence Journal earned a small place in Dimmick's exhibit due to its coverage of Rhode Island's first gay pride parade in , several years after the first gay pride marches in New York.

In honor of Pride Month, the Providence City Council and Stages of Freedom present “Black Lavender: Black Gay Men in Providence,” an exhibit created by Robb Dimmick.
